The Babylon Union Free School District is currently seeking dependable and committed individuals to serve as Custodial Substitutes. This position plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. Custodial Substitutes fill in during absences of regular custodial staff and may be assigned to various school buildings within the district.The Babylon Union Free School District is currently seeking dependable and committed individuals to serve as Custodial Substitutes. Custodial Substitutes fill in during absences of regular custodial staff and may be assigned to various school buildings within the district.Key Responsibilities:- Perform general cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces.- Clean and restock restrooms.- Empty trash and recycling bins.- Set up and break down furniture for events or classroom activities.- Ensure building security by locking doors and windows as needed.- Report maintenance issues or safety hazards to supervisors.- Follow all district safety and sanitation protocols.- Minor repairs- Occasionally responsible for exterior upkeep, including tasks such as snow removal.- May perform grounds maintenance during both instructional hours and school recess periods.Qualifications:- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.- Previous custodial or janitorial experience is a plus.- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and performing physical tasks over extended periods.- Flexibility to work various shifts and locations on short notice.- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Work Schedule:- On-call basis; hours and locations vary depending on need.- May include early mornings, evenings, or weekends.Compensation: $16.50 per hourRequirement: New York State Fingerprint ClearanceNYS Human Rights Law prohibits discrimination because of age, national origin, race, color, creed, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, sex, or gender identity or expression.
