Qualifications - under the direction of the School Lunch Manager: Supervises and prepares meals for a school cafeteria. Completes weekly orders for food and supplies. Supervises the serving of meals and collection of money. Maintains daily inventory of food and supplies. Completes monthly inventory. Requisitions new supplies and food when necessary. Supervises employees in the cleaning of kitchen, serving area and storage areas. Knowledge of health and safety hazards in food preparation and service. Ability to coordinate the work of a small group of kitchen workers in a manner conductive to full performance and high morale. Ability to operate standard cooking equipment for large scale food preparation. Ability to follow and transmit oral and written instruction. Ability to keep records and prepare reports. Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. Does related work as requested. Requirements: High School diploma and two (2) years of experience in the preparation of food on a large scale, or High School diploma and one (1) year of experience as a permanent assistant cook. Employees in this position must attend ongoing continuing education/training as required by the Food and Nutrition Service of the US Department of Agriculture.
