The Auburn Enlarged City School District is seeking a NYSED certified STEM teacher candidate to lead a classroom at an Elementary School. The starting salary ranges from $53,249 (with no master’s degree) to $56,637 (with master’s degree). Additional compensation will be given for graduate credit hours beyond the master’s degree. The Auburn Enlarged City School District is an equal opportunity employer.STEM Teacher - JOB DESCRIPTIONREPORTS TO: PrincipalLOCATION: 5 Elementary Schools, 1 eachSALARY RANGE: Per ATA ContractDescription:The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) teachers will be included in the encore (specials) rotation at the elementary buildings for classrooms in kindergarten through 6th grade, will provide enrichment opportunities in each school, and assist with the implementation and coordination of the New York State Science Investigations. Within the encore rotation, the STEM teachers will provide instruction and alignment to the New York State Science Learning Standards (NYSSLS), which includes embedding hands-on learning experiences to enhance their learning of science concepts and implement the New York State Science Investigations. In addition, the STEM teachers will also include lessons that incorporate the New York State Computer Science & Digital Fluency standards and provide enrichment opportunities for students. STEM teachers will be required to obtain the Gifted & Talented certification extension. Duties & Responsibilities:• Planning and preparation:o Plan lessons that include NYSSLS and Computer Science & Digital Fluency standards.o Work collaboratively with the classroom teachers and school librarians to ensure that these specific learning standards are met for each grade level.o Assist the building leadership team in the coordination and implementation of the NYS Science Investigations.o Meet regularly with STEM colleagues to align learning targets and collaborate across the five elementary buildings.• Classroom Environment:o Create physical classroom environments conducive to collaborative and individual learning.o Establish a culture of respect, enthusiasm and rapport with students.Mission StatementThe mission of the Auburn Enlarged City School District is to develop citizens that are capable of meeting the challenges of their future by providing equitable, fiscally sound educational opportunities necessary to develop confident life-long learners.• Instruction:o Implement lessons that include NYSSLS and Computer Science & Digital Fluency standards.o Incorporate questioning and discussion in student learning to promote inquiry-based learning.o Facilitate NYS Science Investigations in grades 3-6.o Provide enrichment opportunities to students.Professional Responsibilities:o Solicit and eagerly receive feedback from administration to improve professional skills.o Communicate with classroom teachers and school librarians regarding planned instruction incorporating learning standards.o Communicate with classroom teachers and parents on the progress of students.
