The Director of Fiscal Operations assists the Assistant Superintendent of Business in overseeing the financial operations of the school district, ensuring the effective management of fiscal resources to support educational objectives. This twelve-month position involves strategic planning, budgeting, financial reporting, compliance, and staff management, working closely with district leadership to promote fiscal accountability and transparency. The Director of Fiscal Operations serves as the general business office supervisor and as the backup to the Assistant Superintendent for Business. This position requires considerable latitude for the exercise of independent judgment. The successful candidate must support the District Mission and core values. Performance Responsibilities:The Director of Fiscal Operations activities include, but are not limited to, the following: Provide support to the Assistant Superintendent for Business for all school business affairs and all school business management activitiesSupervise the work of staff in the business office involving the maintenance of a wide variety of financial, statistical and clerical recordsParticipate in long-term financial planning and analysis to support the district's strategic goalsCompile material and assists in budget preparation, salary and insurance studies, special statistical, accounting and related reports for administrative useOversee control of budgetary accounts and advises administrative staff when deemed appropriateAssist in work with architects and contractors to provide satisfactory buildings for educating studentsProvide advice to District administrators on all matters related to school business affairsAssist in the preparation of the annual preliminary budget based on requisitions from all departments and buildingsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.Proficiency in financial software and systems, along with advanced knowledge of Excel and data analysis tools.Organize in-service training programs for the nonprofessional personnelEnsure compliance with all federal, state, and local financial regulations and policies.Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to mitigate risks and enhance internal controls.Participate in the selection of new staff within the business functionCoordinate and manage the District Worker’s Compensation programParticipate in the administration of the District’s sick bank programs related to the classified staffLead and mentor a team of financial analysts and fiscal staff, promoting professional development and continuous improvementFoster a collaborative and accountable work environment that encourages teamwork and innovation.Other duties as assignedFor additional information go to https://www.arlingtonschools.org/domain/28 and click on “Current Vacancies.”
