In this role, you will work with young learners with diverse learning needs in a supportive rural school environment. You will provide specialized instruction, helping students develop foundational academic skills, social-emotional competencies, and independence. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact during critical early learning years while collaborating with a close-knit team of educators, specialists, and families who are invested in every child's success.Key ResponsibilitiesCreate personalized learning experiences that address individual needs while emphasizing student growth and achievementDevelop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each studentAssess student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordinglyWork with related service providers (speech therapists, occupational therapists, etc.)Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progressImplement behavior management strategies and positive interventionsMaintain accurate records of student performance and behaviorParticipate in Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings, focused on student-strengths and growth opportunitiesAdapt curriculum materials to meet individual student needsBuild supportive partnerships with families to create consistent learning environmentsQualificationsBachelor's degree in Special Education (Master's preferred)Valid state certification in Special EducationExperience working with students with significant disabilitiesKnowledge of evidence-based instructional practices for students with special needsUnderstanding of behavior management techniques and positive behavior supportsStrong collaborative and communication skillsPatience, empathy, and dedication to student successHow to ApplyPlease submit your resume, cover letter, teaching certification, and three professional references to James Bennefield, Superintendent of Schools, Argyle Central School.Our District is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity in the workplace.
