Ardsley High School is seeking a leave replacement High School Nurse effective Mid-September, 2026 through early March, 2027. NATURE AND SCOPE OF THE JOB: The High School Nurse is a registered professional responsible for promoting and maintaining the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of students within the school environment. This role involves providing direct healthcare services, managing chronic and acute health conditions, supporting health education initiatives, and ensuring compliance with state and local health regulations. The nurse collaborates with students, parents, faculty, administrators, and community healthcare providers to create a safe and healthy school environment that supports student learning and success. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide direct nursing care to students, including first aid, emergency care, and assessment of illnesses and injuries. Develop, implement, and monitor individualized healthcare plans (IHPs) and emergency care plans for students with chronic conditions. Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and school policies. Maintain accurate and confidential student health records in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Conduct health screenings (e.g., vision, hearing, scoliosis) and coordinate follow-up care as needed. Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate with emergency services when necessary. Monitor and manage communicable diseases; implement infection control measures. Serve as a health resource for students, staff, and families, providing education on topics such as nutrition, hygiene, mental health, and substance abuse prevention. Collaborate with school counselors, psychologists, and administrators to support student wellness. Ensure compliance with state immunization requirements and maintain immunization records. Participate in the development of school health policies and emergency preparedness plans. Supervise and train unlicensed assistive personnel as applicable. Maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment. Ensure that Athletic clearances are handled in timely manner QUALIFICATIONS: Strong clinical nursing skills and ability to assess and respond to a wide range of health conditions. Knowledge of adolescent health issues, including mental health, chronic illnesses, and developmental needs. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, families, and staff. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately. Strong organizational and record-keeping skills. Ability to work independently and respond effectively in emergency situations. Proficiency in basic computer applications and electronic health record systems. CERTIFICATION: Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment. Certification in CPR and First Aid (required). School Nurse Certification (as required by state regulations). Experience in pediatric, community health, or school nursing preferred.
