Qualifications: The Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction shall hold New York State certification as a School District Leader, along with at least an appropriate Master’s Degree. Principal and/or central office experience is preferred and this individual also shall possess the personal characteristics necessary to work collaboratively with all stakeholders. All qualifications are considered essential to fulfill the requirements of the position of Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. Duties and Responsibilities: The Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction shall be responsible to the Superintendent of Schools. This individual shall have responsibility to assist with all aspects of curriculum and instruction for the education program. Position Description:Support and cultivate a shared vision for student learning across the organizationAdvance a continuing, collaborative program of review, evaluation, development, and implementation of the K-12 curriculum, and associated assessments and instructional practicesFoster the vertical and horizontal articulation and alignment of the instructional program in collaboration with teachers, mentors, curriculum leaders, department chairs, assistant principals, principals, and administratorsNurture and sustain a comprehensive program of professional development aimed at continuous instructional and programmatic improvement/enhancementEngage in strategic use of data to inform decision-makingCoordination of Title Grants, Dignity Act, and Civil Rights ComplianceAttend all Board of Education meetings and other meetings as appropriate. Attend other school related events regularlyPrepare reports for the Board of Education in areas related to job responsibilities.
