We believe that all girls who desire this opportunity should have access to it.Position SummaryThe Hall and Behavior Support Specialist is responsible for maintaining a safe, respectful, and orderly school environment. This includes monitoring student behavior, upholding school policies, and supporting school culture efforts throughout the day. The specialist serves as a visible and approachable presence in hallways, entrances, and other student-accessible areas to ensure a smooth and safe flow of movement, adherence to behavior expectations, and positive engagement with students and staff.This role is central to promoting a school culture grounded in respect, accountability, and safety. The specialist will also play an integral role in school-wide safety procedures, attendance follow-up, and behavior documentation.Key ResponsibilitiesMonitor student attendance, behavior, and hallway movement throughout the school dayCommunicate attendance and behavior concerns to appropriate staff in a timely mannerSupervise hallways, classrooms, entrances, exits, bus stops, and other student-accessed areasAssist with the implementation and execution of school safety drills and emergency protocols (e.g., fire, lockdown)Enforce school and classroom policies and behavioral expectationsRespond to incidents of misconduct and document behaviors using the school’s tracking systemsAddress and report facility and safety issues as neededProvide support and collaboration with other supervisory staff to ensure consistent student coverageMaintain enforcement of school rules related to attendance, food, drinks, hallway passes, and appropriate behaviorOther duties as assigned by the Assistant PrincipalQualificationsEducation and Training:High School Diploma or GED requiredAssociate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferredExperience:Prior experience working with middle or high school students, preferably in an urban or charter school settingStrong understanding of school culture and youth engagement practicesSkills and Dispositions:Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skillsBasic computer proficiency, including use of word processing and database systemsDemonstrated professionalism, punctuality, and reliabilityAbility to remain calm, focused, and solution-oriented in a fast-paced environmentBilingual skills are a plus, especially in alignment with the student populationCertificates, Licenses, Registrations:None required, but any applicable certifications in youth development, school safety, or behavior management are a plusPhysical DemandsRegular standing and walking throughout the school dayFrequent talking, listening, and visual observationOccasional lifting of up to 25 poundsMust be able to physically monitor and respond across multiple school locationsWork EnvironmentSchool building with moderate noise levelsMay work in both high-traffic, noisy areas and quieter administrative spacesFrequent interaction with students and staff throughout the dayMental and Cognitive FunctionsRequires strong interpersonal and observational skillsFrequent need to analyze situations, make decisions quickly, and communicate effectivelyAbility to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneouslyRegular engagement in problem-solving, coordination, and behavior evaluation
