This position will provide nursing support, monitoring the on-going health care of a student, administering medication, providing emergency care, supervising infection control, and assisting in the classroom educational program.Schedule: Monday - Friday, 1st shift; 48 weeks per year. Follows the school calendar (September – June), with a 6-week summer program.Salary Range: $25.00 - $26.00Responsibilities include:Observes each child as they arrive in the morning for signs of illness or injury, i.e. rashes, fever, cough, etc. and plan an appropriate course of action.Escorts and assists students to and from the school buses providing opportunities for student's increased independence in orientation and mobility.Assists in the classroom according to staffing patterns and students’ needs (changing diapers, assistance with toileting and feeding) and conducts small groups and individual activities.Provides first-aid treatment as necessary, decides on appropriate emergency care when indicated.Assists in monitoring health policies and procedures on medication, emergency treatment and signs of illness which indicate that children should not attend program.Updates and records pertinent medical information in student's files; informs staff and parents/caregivers as necessary.
