The Assistant Principal will work collaboratively with the Principal to oversee the provision of all educational services provided within the school. This includes but is not limited to leadership, administration and supervision to staff (teachers and teaching staff and administrative supportive staff), overseeing the daily operational functions, fiscal accountability, and developing goals and objectives in accordance with the agency’s mission. This includes observation, report preparation, conferencing, assisting teachers and providing instructional leadership. Works with the building principal to implement, assess, refine, coach, and model the school's MTSS (multi-tiered systems of support plan. Facilitates research regarding trends and best practices to support appropriate recommendations for student success through rigorous, innovative, and technological programming. Works closely with local School Districts and other agencies providing services to students with disabilities. Ensures the delivery of quality educational services by maintaining the highest quality standards of learning. Ensures that all students have access to the school's core curriculum. Confers with students’ families, school leadership, and other professionals to develop IEP's designed to promote students' academic, physical and social development. Regularly evaluates internal systems and makes recommendations for improvements in efficiency and productivity.Assesses staffing needs, recruits and hires quality staff members as needed.Provides leadership, guidance and training to all school staff. Plans and facilitates on-site orientation and professional development for staff. Evaluates staff in the performance of their job duties.Ensures compliance with all regulations, laws and other requirements. Maintains open lines of communication with all interested parties—parents, teachers, administrators, community members, government officials, etc Ensures all required trainings and certifications required are current, and seeks further support and training where needed. Incorporate core concepts of CQL’s person-centered excellence by respecting people’s concerns and responding accordingly and uses “teachable moments” to assist people in understanding and exercising their rights. Ensures that employees follow the Code of Ethical and Legal Behavior and conform to the strictest standards of Corporate Compliance and HIPAA, as well as all federal, state, local and municipal laws and regulations. Follows all agency policy and procedures and demonstrates continuous regard to personal safety and the safety of others Performs other appropriate job-related activities as required by the supervisor or as circumstances warrantQualificationsPosition requires Master’s Degree in Education with New York State Certification in Educational Administration as a School Administrator and Supervisor (SAS) or School District Administrator (SDS)A minimum of three years teaching experience in a Special Education environment, preferably with the integration of students with disabilities into the communityDemonstrated knowledge of State Education Department rules and regulations, New York State Education Law, the commissioner’s Part 200 Regulations, and special education lawKnowledge of curriculum development and experience in clinical supervision of professional and nonprofessional staffFamiliarity with community resources to assist in the integration of students with disabilities into the communityAbility to interrelate with non-agency personnel in various matters concerning the school.Strong public speaking skills desirable
