Coaches need to pass on their skills and knowledge both on and off the field by being advisors to their student-athletes. An essential skill is being able to guide students through their anxieties and make them excel in their fields and thrive academically.
Thus, a successful coaching resume must emphasize not only your previous high school coaching jobs but also your players’ academic performances. Consider highlighting a particularly competitive year in which your team succeeded during their athletic season without sacrificing their GPAs. Describe any programs you implemented to improve your team’s athletic and academic abilities. Perhaps also include subsequent student successes, such as scholarships earned for athletic and academic performances. For more inexperienced coaches, indicate how you might transfer your own success as a former student-athlete onto your potential players if given the opportunity.
