PERSONNEL BULLETIN FOR THE 2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR: Director of STEM The Westbury UFSD is seeking an innovative and dedicated Director of STEM to provide instructional leadership in Mathematics, Science, Family and Consumer Science, and Business Education. The Director of STEM reports to the Assistant Superintendents for Curriculum and Instruction, and the duties and performance responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Personnel and Staff DevelopmentPlan, develop, and implement meetings for STEM staff and, when necessary, for general education staff on a district-wide, school-wide, or departmental basis.Provide workshops, journals, research articles, and other resources to support the continued professional growth of STEM faculty.Identify high-quality professional development opportunities specific to Mathematics, Science, Family and Consumer Science, and Business Education.Collaborate with building principals and instructional leaders to enhance instructional strategies, curriculum alignment, and student engagement in STEM disciplines.Encourage attendance at STEM-related conferences, professional seminars, and collaborative inter-visitations.Recruit and interview qualified educators in STEM content areas.Maintain a strong working relationship with NYSED officials to stay current on policy updates and instructional mandates in STEM fields.Supervisory ResponsibilityPlan, develop, and implement meetings for STEM staff and, when necessary, for general education staff on a district-wide, school-wide, or departmental basis.Provide workshops, journals, research articles, and other resources to support the continued professional growth of STEM faculty.Identify high-quality professional development opportunities specific to Mathematics, Science, Family and Consumer Science, and Business Education.Collaborate with building principals and instructional leaders to enhance instructional strategies, curriculum alignment, and student engagement in STEM disciplines.Encourage attendance at develop, and implement meetings for STEM staff and, when necessary, for general education staff on a district-wide, school-wide, or departmental basis.Provide workshops, journals, research articles, and other resources to support the continued professional growth of STEM faculty.Identify high-quality professional development opportunities specific to Mathematics, Science, Family and Consumer mandates in STEM fields.Requirements:Valid New York State District Leader Certification and/or New York State School District Administrator Certification at the time of closing of advertisement required.Valid New York State Certification in one or more of the following areas required:New York State Childhood Education 1-6New York State Mathematics 7-12New York State Biology 7-12New York State Earth Science 7-12New York State Chemistry 7-12New York State Physics 7-12Post-master’s degree in education (Doctorate preferred).At least five (5) years of successful teaching experience with tenure conferred in a STEM related area.At least five (2) years of successful experience in humanities related administration and staff supervision.Bilingual/Multilingual candidates are encouraged to
