The Waterville Central School District is looking for a full time cleaner. Typical Work Activities Floor Care: Sweep, mop, and vacuum all assigned areas. Use automated floor scrubbers and carpet extractors as directed. Sanitization: Clean and disinfect all restroom fixtures (toilets, urinals, sinks), replenishing all paper products and soap. Waste Management: Empty all trash and recycling receptacles and transport waste to designated outdoor bins. Surface Cleaning: Dust and wipe down desks, tabletops, windowsills, and high-touch surfaces (door handles, light switches, water fountains). Security Lockdown: Ensure all windows are closed and locked, lights are turned off, and all interior/exterior doors in the assigned zone are secured at the end of the shift. Event Support: Sets up and takes down equipment, chairs, and tables for school assemblies, meetings, sporting events, and other district activities. Winter Maintenance: Performs snow removal and spreads salt on sidewalks, doorways, and main entryways to ensure safe access for students and staff. Facilities Support: Moves furniture within classrooms and offices to accommodate deep cleaning, room reconfiguration, or staff needs. Additionally: Performs other related tasks as required by the school system to maintain a safe, clean, and functional educational environment. Full Performance Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics Working knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment. Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions. Ability to get along well with others. Ability to read and write. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and stand/walk for the duration of an 8-hour shift. Ability to operate or learn to operate heavy-duty cleaning machinery. Willingness to work independently with minimal supervision Minimum Qualifications Civil Service: Must meet requirements for "Labor Class" as defined by the County Personnel Department. Background: Must clear a New York State Department of Education (SAVE) fingerprint-based background check. Experience: None required (On-the-job training provided).
