The Watertown City School District is currently accepting applications for a Cook Manager at Watertown High School. The hours are 6:00 am - 2:00 pm Monday through Friday. EOEGENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Has charge of the preparation and cooking of food in a medium size school; does related work as required.DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This work involves the preparation and cooking of food on a moderately large scale and the supervision of personnel in the school cafeteria. The work is performed under the general supervision of a Cook Manager or other superior. Supervision is exercised over the work of Cooks, Assistant Cooks, Food Service Helpers and Porters. EXAMPLES OF WORK ACTIVITIES: Supervises and participates in the preparation and serving of food.Supervises the storage and care of foods and supplies.Supervises and participates in the cleaning of the kitchen, serving and storage areas, and the care of the equipment.Keeps simple records on food and supplies received and used.Has daily morning meetings to advise staff on that days menu, and any other need to know information.Submit a morning pull sheet to the porters on a daily basis of all foods that are needed to be brought up from storage areas.Determines requirements and submits weekly orders for food and supplies to the Assistant Food Service Director.Enters daily food production records into the Healthe Pro system on a daily basis.FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Good knowledge of the principles and practices of large quantity food preparation, menu planning, purchasing, sanitary food handling and storage; good knowledge of the fundamentals of nutrition and their application to the health of children; good knowledge of modern cooking utensils, appliances and equipment; ability to plan and supervise the work of others; ability to keep records and prepare reports; ability to get along well with children and adults; ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions; tact and good judgement; resourcefulness; good physical condition.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (Either)Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s Degree in Home Economics, Food Service or Institutional Management, Restaurant Management, Hotel/Motel Management or a closely related field; orHigh School Diploma or its equivalent and two years of work experience consisting of a variety of changing menus and large-scale cooking experience.Apply on OLAS
