The Watertown City School District has an opening for and is accepting applications for a Student Information & Instructional Specialist at the District Office. This is a 12-month position and has full benefits to include health, dental, vision, retirement and paid time off. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a City of Watertown Civil Service competitive, tested position.DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is a professional position in the Watertown City School District. The incumbent in the position develops data through the collection, analysis and use of student performance information. The incumbent assists staff in interpreting the data, proposing solutions to data collection difficulties and coordinating the delivery of student data. The Student Information and Instructional Specialist directly reports to the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. Supervision of others is not a responsibility of this class. The incumbent performs related work as required. FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Good knowledge of computer skills including: word processing; database; spreadsheet and statistical analysis; working knowledge of New York State Learning Standards and State Assessments; ability to write clear precise reports; ability to analyze and interpret student data; ability to facilitate district planning of student data; ability to work as a member of a team; high energy level; creative thinker and problem solver.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either:A. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree, including or supplemented by twelve (12) semester credit hours in the fields of computer science, computer technology, data processing or a closely related field: ORB. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's Degree, including or supplemented by six (6) semester credit hours in the fields of computer science, computer technology, data processing or a closely related field and two (2) years of experience in the collection and statistical analysis of educational program data.
