Required Qualifications: Current NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license Current CPR/AED Certification School nursing experience preferred Experience working with students with diabetes and/or seizures preferred Ability to respond appropriately and calmly to medical emergencies Position Details: The Wantagh UFSD is seeking an exceptional registered nurse who will provide support to students participating in athletic practices and competitions, with primary responsibility for students with diabetes, seizure disorders and other identified medical needs. Hours are 2:00-5:30 p.m. The successful candidate will: Provide nursing care and monitoring during athletic practices and games. Follow student-specific medical orders, Individualized Healthcare Plans, and Emergency Care Plans. Monitor students for signs of hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia, seizure activity, or other medical concerns. Administer medications and emergency interventions as authorized and within the nurse's scope of practice. Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid/CPR as needed. Communicate with coaches, school personnel, parents/guardians, and the student's school nurse regarding health concerns. Maintain appropriate documentation of nursing services and medical incidents. Ensure required medications and emergency supplies are available during assigned activities. Perform other related duties as assigned.
