The district, located just 25 miles east of New York City in Wantagh, NY, includes three elementary schools (K-5), one New York State Essential Elements School to Watch middle school (6-8), and one National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence high school (9-12).Wantagh School District is seeking a dedicated and compassionate High School Social Worker to join our student support team. The successful candidate will provide direct and indirect services to students and families to promote social-emotional well-being, mental health, academic success and positive school engagement.Responsibilities:Provide individual and group counseling to students experiencing academic, social, emotional or behavioral challenges.Collaborate with teachers, administrators, counselors, psychologists and families to support student success.Serve as a liaison between the school, home and community agencies.Support crisis intervention and conflict resolution as needed.Provide referrals and connect families with outside counseling, community and social service resources.Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with district and state guidelines.Participate in professional development and district initiatives related to social-emotional learning, restorative practices and trauma-informed care.QualificationsMaster’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution.Current New York State Certification as a School Social Worker (or eligibility).Experience working with adolescents in an educational or counseling setting is preferred.Strong understanding of social-emotional learning, crisis intervention and community resources.Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.Commitment to equity, inclusion, and fostering a supportive learning environment for all students.NYS K-12 Fingerprint Clearance.
