Each school supports a collaborative and supportive environment for students and staff alike.The district, located just 25 miles east of New York City in Wantagh, NY, includes three elementary schools (K-5), one New York State Essential Elements School to Watch middle school (6-8), and one National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence high school (9-12).Required Qualifications:Valid NYS Certification as a School Building Leader (SBL) and/or School District Leader (SDL)Strong foundation in elementary instruction and literacy practicesPosition Details:The Wantagh Union Free School District is seeking a collaborative and committed instructional leader to serve as the Supervisor of Humanities â Elementary. The ideal candidate will:Prioritize student-centered decision-making in all collaborative effortsDemonstrate expertise in academic data collection, analysis, and the use of data to inform instruction and interventionsEmphasize consistency and continuity in early childhood educationReporting to the Executive Director of Curriculum & Instruction, the Supervisor will partner with principals, teachers, and district teams to ensure high-quality instruction, standard aligned learning experiences, and appropriate student support systems across all three elementary schools.Key Responsibilities:Lead the development and refinement of Kâ5 curriculum maps and lesson plans in Literacy and Social StudiesProvide support for new staff and lead ongoing, high-quality professional developmentConduct instructional coaching, classroom visits, formal observations, and facilitate team meetingsOversee instructional budgets and ensure access to up-to-date teaching materialsSupport Tier II and Tier III literacy interventions, including progress monitoringSchedule and facilitate IST meetings and maintain family communicationCollaborate with PPS, BCBA, and SEL teams on student support systemsManage and analyze academic data to guide decisionsSupervise AIS and other literacy-related special area programsSupport scheduling to preserve core (Tier I) instructional timeCoordinate computer-based testing (CBT) and state assessment administration and protocols.Serve as UPK liaison in partnership with SCOPEComplete required paperwork for state grants, assessments, and professional services.APPLICATION PROCEDURES:Candidates must submit the following on OLAS:Cover letter, current resume, and three professional referencesCopy of NYS certificationABOUT THE POSITION:The Board of Education will offer a four year probationary appointment with a regionally competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience, as well as an attractive benefits package per the WSA collective bargaining agreement.
