The district, located just 25 miles east of New York City in Wantagh, NY, includes three elementary schools (K-5), one New York State Essential Elements School to Watch middle school (6-8), and one National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence high school (9-12).Required Qualifications:NYS Speech and Language Disabilities CertificationTSSLD or TSSHH CertificationPrevious experience as an SLP preferredAAC experience requiredPosition DetailsDemonstrate experience in utilizing research-based speech and language intervention strategies.Successful experience as a school based speech and language therapist.Knowledge and experience in special and general education, pedagogy, and assessment (including data analysis).Able to administer, analyze and score standardized assessments to generate the necessary reports and recommendations.Provides mandated speech and language therapy for students as described on each student's IEP.Able to develop and monitor IEP goals and objectives.Serve as the Speech and Language Pathologist at CSE meetings for students, demonstrating a strong knowledge of the CSE process, referral and evaluation processes and IEP development.Maintains IEP compliance, student files and rosters for the school team.Participate as a member of the school based Child Study Team.Develops and implements intervention strategies.Background in assessment and writing Speech and Language EvaluationsBackground in implementing ABA methodology to improve the language, speech, and communication of students requiredPROMPT trained or certified a plus
