TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIESPerforms and oversees a variety of grounds maintenance work;Supervises the implementation of new equipment as they relate to grounds maintenance and operation;Supervises the execution of preventive grounds maintenance, procedures, and programs;Coordinates regular inspection of grounds to locate work needs and makes recommendations for grounds improvement;Ensures compliance with prescribed grounds maintenance plans, policies, and safety codes;Cuts grass and weeds using hand tools and lawn mowers;Plans, prepares and maintains athletic fields and surrounding areas.Responsible for ensuring the proper and safe working condition of equipment, provides and schedules routine service and maintenance;Assists in the preparation of annual reports and annual budgetOperate motor vehicles, such as automobiles, tractors, and small trucks;Removes snow, salts and sands driveways and sidewalks and performs custodial tasks during winter monthsDoes related work as requiredCompletes additional duties as assigned. Interested Candidates Must Demonstrate:Thorough working knowledge of groundskeeping practices, supplies and equipment; basic working knowledge of tools, terminology, practices and procedures; demonstrates ability to use and care for tools and equipment; ability to plan and supervise the work of others; ability to interpret and work from sketches, plans, and/or specification; thoroughness; resourceful; dependable; demonstrates good judgment; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or possession of a GED AND two (2) years of experience in groundskeeping and maintenance activities AND one (1) year of supervisory experience.
