Number of Positions: 1Salary: $90,000 - $116,000, commensurate with experienceLocation: Sanford Street TLC, Glens Falls, NY Hours: Monday - Friday: 8-4The Principal for Special Programs provides leadership and supervision for the WSWHE BOCES Exceptional Learners Division (ELD) Programs at the Sanford Street Teaching & Learning Center. Responsible for the overall student management on campus. Lead & participate in planning and implementation of all facets that lead to a better educational program and improved outcomes for all students within the program, division and organization. Other related duties may be required or directed.Responsibilities:Provides leadership and overall supervision for all aspects of the program that promotes a school culture and climate of multicultural social-emotional wellness, inclusion, diversity, equity & a sense of belonging for all students & staffServes as the BOCES Administrator and liaison with CSE chairs or their designees for program placement and implementationFoster positive, solution-focused relationships with students, families, guardians, staff, districts, and CSE chairsImplement BOCES policies, procedures and State Education Department mandatesCommunicate effectively in oral and written form with individuals from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds.Provide leadership for students behavior management systems, plans, training and implementation. Provide leadership and oversight for IEP development and monitoringProvide instructional leadership to meet the needs of diverse learners that is responsive to student needs, utilizes evidence-based high leverage practices for students with disabilities, aligned with state standards and the BOCES instructional frameworkEnsure appropriate student assessment procedures related to BOCES benchmark testing, New York State Testing (3-8 assessments, NYSAA, and Regents exams)to align with State Education Department mandates, as well as reviewing assessment results and making proper curriculum, instruction and program adjustments. Conduct professional performance reviews of instructional and non-instructional staff under supervision in accordance with the Annual Professional Performance Review Plan and the collective bargaining agreement; develop and monitor employee improvement plans as necessary. Provide leadership for the continual professional development of staff (individually and groups) to ensure a well-informed, skilled, engaged, innovative and motivated staff. Assure the health, safety and welfare of students and staff, within the framework of BOCES board policy, administrative guidelines and emergency management procedures.Administration of educational programs, implementation of the BOCES mission, monitoring and supervision of school facilities and performing other tasks and assuming such other responsibilities as directed.Direct the growth and development of services to effectively meet changing needs of component districts and BOCES' internal needs, and service as a liaison to component districts by providing accurate policies, procedures and SED mandates as they relate to Students with DisabilitiesRecommend for employment and retention licensed and/or certified staff to work in BOCESParticipate in the development and management of building budget;Maintain an office that is responsive, efficient and supportive to school districts, staff and programs;Serve as member of the Council of Administrators and Supervisors, Instructional Cabinet & ELD Leadership TeamPerform other duties as assigned by the Director for Exceptional Learners DivisionMinimum Requirements:NYS School Building Leader (SBL) Certification; ORNYS School Administrator/Supervisor (SAS) Certification; ORNYS School District Administrator (SDA) Certification;Diverse candidates are encouraged to apply.
