Work Assignment: Full-Time position, work sites to be determined.DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for assisting the Director of Human Resource Services (or other central office administrator) by providing personnel and human resource program, policies and procedural information to the BOCES administrators, staff and the general public. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, civil service compliance, state and federal reporting, and working with collective bargaining agreements. Work is performed in accordance with Board of Education policies, Administrative Regulations, collective bargaining agreements and objective outlined by the Director of Human Resource Services, with leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in planning and carrying out duties. The Human Resource Generalist is required to exercise the highest discretion to ensure confidentiality of BOCES and human resource records. Does related work as required.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either:Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with a bachelor’s in Human Resources or Education(preferred) ORGraduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with a Bachelor’s degree and twenty-four (24 months) full-time paid work experience in Human Resource related functions in an educational environment with an emphasis on recruiting, credential review, staffing, on-boarding and advises.Note: Vacancies are filled by a certified list provided by Washington County Civil Service. Should no certified list be available, candidates appointed to this position will be serving in a provisional appointment in accordance with New York State Civil Service Law. The candidate must successfully complete a competitive examination and be eligible for appointment in accordance with Civil Service Law and the Civil Service Rules for Washington County to obtain a permanent appointment.
