Western Suffolk BOCES anticipates an opening for an Assistant Principal in our Career & Technical Education Division. The successful candidate will support the Principal in providing instructional leadership, managing daily school operations, and fostering a culture of high expectations and professional growth. QUALIFICATIONS: Certification: Valid New York State School Building Leader (SBL) or School Administrator/Supervisor (SAS) certification is required. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching or administrative experience; experience within a BOCES or Career and Technical Education setting is strongly preferred. Knowledge: Deep understanding of NYS CTE program approval processes, work-based learning requirements, and the developmental needs of diverse learners. Skills: Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; ability to utilize data to inform instructional decisions and operational improvements JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Instructional Leadership: Assist in the supervision and evaluation of instructional and support staff to ensure high-quality teaching and learning. Student Support & Discipline: Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive school climate; oversee student attendance and manage student conduct in accordance with the Code of Conduct and DASA regulations. Curriculum & Assessment: Work with faculty to align CTE curricula with New York State standards and industry certifications. Operations Management: Assist in scheduling, facility oversight, and the coordination of state-mandated testing and technical assessments. Industry & Community Liaison: Strengthen partnerships with local businesses, advisory committees, and component school districts to enhance work-based learning opportunities for students.
