Must possess or be willing to obtain the Civil Service Title of “Transportation Supervisor”Minimum Qualifications:Graduation from High school or possession of a High School equivalency diploma and either: Four (4) years of work experience where the primary function of the position was transporting individuals from one location to another and scheduling vehicles for a transportation system, including or supplemented by two (2) years of work experience in a supervisory or administrative capacity.Four (4) years of work experience in the transportation industry which involved risk management, safety, and/or security issues, including or supplemented by two (2) years of work experience in a supervisory or administrative capacity.Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Attributes:Good Knowledge of school district transportation methods & operations;Good knowledge of driving safety practices, traffic laws, & regulations;Ability to plan & supervise the work of others;Ability to prepare reports;Effectively use computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, email & database software.Typical Work Activities:Prepare time schedules for buses & approve changes;Determine routes to be followed by various drivers;Prepares all state transportation reports and land maps of bus routes;Supervises and evaluates transportation department personnel;Prepares monthly transportation reports including the cost of operating each bus on the basis of expenses for gasoline, parts, labor, and other costs;Maintains accident report file;Assists in the preparation of the transportation budget;Screens & Monitors student discipline incidents for District administration;Attends various meetings as a representative of the Transportation Department;Monitors weather and road conditions in order to make recommendations to the superintendent as to when the fleet should be grounded;Does related work as required.
