Our district is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Long-Term Substitute School Counselor to support our 10th–12th grade students through the critical final months of the academic year. This is a pivotal time for our students as they finalize schedules, navigate graduation requirements, and prepare for post-secondary transitions.The RoleAs a key member of our Counseling Department, you will manage a caseload of high school students, ensuring they are supported academically, socially, and emotionally. You will be the "bridge" between students, families, and staff during the busy spring semester.Key ResponsibilitiesAcademic Oversight: Manage the high school scheduling process, ensuring students are on track for graduation and meeting their personalized goals.Data-Driven Support: Track and analyze student data to identify necessary interventions and monitor progress.Direct Student Support: Provide 1:1 counseling for students in need, offering a safe space for social-emotional growth.Crisis & Risk Assessment: Confidently assess high-risk situations, prioritize student needs, and implement immediate support protocols.Advocacy & Collaboration: Act as a fierce advocate for student needs while collaborating seamlessly with teachers, administrators, and specialized support staff.Clear Communication: Maintain professional and proactive communication with parents, guardians, and the greater community.What You BringNYS Certification: Valid New York State School Counselor certification is a must.HS Expertise: Deep knowledge of teen development and the unique pressures of the 10–12 grade experience.System Savvy: Proficiency in high school scheduling systems and student information databases.The "Multitasker" Mindset: The ability to pivot quickly from a data-heavy scheduling task to an urgent student crisis with empathy and poise.Clinical Judgment: Strong skills in prioritizing needs and identifying the right interventions at the right time.Why Join Our District?You will join a collaborative environment that values the mental health and future readiness of every student.
