The White Plains Public School District is seeking an Interim Assistant Superintendent for Special Education and Pupil Services for the 2025-26 school year. This is a 12-month administrative position that is responsible for the planning and leadership of all Pupil Personnel Services district-wide Pk-12. This position provides district-wide leadership in pupil services and leads the district in meeting the District’s mission of supporting success for all students through a broad range of programs and supports. The Assistant Superintendent for Special Education and Pupil Services reports to the Superintendent. NYS certification as a School District Administrator or a School District Leader is required. Other qualifications include: Thorough knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations in Special Education, 504, discipline, safety and residency related to a large district program. Special Education rules and regulations related to a large district program.Strong interpersonal skillsHigh level of knowledge of best practices in special education programs in curriculum, instruction, assessment and professional development.Ability to formulate, transmit, understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all staff members including administrators, teachers and support staff.Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writingMust be able to work extended hours and daysResponsibilities include:Supervising and supporting the Co-Directors of Special Education, the Assistant Principal overseeing counseling services, and the Director of Nursing Services in program development and implementationWith building administrators, supervise all special education and pupil services programsResponding to parents concerns with regard to special education and pupil servicesCollaborating with Assistant Superintendent for Business and Operations with regard to all PPS and special education budgets, grants and finance and develops and prepares department budget.Representing the district in all NY State audits of special programs and servicesSupervising all aspects of the District-wide Section 504 Accommodation Plans including training staff in regulations and overseeing the 504 annual review processManaging SED citation processCompensation is highly competitive and commensurate with experience with a start date of September 1, 2025 or sooner.
