The White Plains Public School District has an anticipated administrative opening for Co-Director of Special Education 6-12. This full-time 12-month probationary position requires NYS certification as a School District Administrator (SDA) or a School District Leader (SDL) and an area related to special education. The Co-Director of Special Education 6-12 ensures that the district is in NYS and Federal compliance for all students and works to maintain program quality as it relates to inclusive education for students with disabilities. Three years of successful teaching experience and experience as an administrator is preferred. Some of the qualifications, the ideal candidate should possess are: Thorough knowledge of Special Education rules and regulations related to a large district programStrong interpersonal skillsAbility to formulate, transmit, understand and carry out complex oral and written instructionsAbility to effectively partner with parents to support student growthAbility to communicate effectively, both orally and in writingMust be able to travel between school buildingsResponsibilities include:Chairing and/or attending CSE meetingsCommunicating with the State Education DepartmentFunctions as the point person for IEP DirectWorking with the Director of Special Education Prek-5 and the Assistant Superintendent for Special Education to support an articulated vision for the special education departmentSupervising special education office and clerical staffWorking with attorneys on issues of Impartial HearingsCompensation is placement on the Administrative Salary Schedule with full benefits.
