The Director of Secondary Teaching, Learning and Assessment position with the White Plains City School District requires NYS certification as SDA or SDL. The individual in this position will oversee the effectiveness of elementary programs across the district and should possess, to name a few, the following qualifications:at least three years of successful experience as an administratorat least 5 years of teaching experience at the secondary levela strong track record in staff development and technology integrationdemonstrated record of seeking growth, responding well to challenge, and accepting the need for change where there is valid evidence that a practice is not workinga passion for the work and a willingness to embrace challenges along with a high level of problem-solving energydisplay a rich, substantive, research-based knowledge both of academic programming and of pedagogydemonstrated highly developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skillsThe goal of the Director of Secondary Teaching, Learning and Assessment is to improve teaching and learning by providing leadership in curriculum development, professional development, data management and analysis, test coordination and the evaluation of current programs. To accomplish this, a sample of the Director's responsibilities are:Primary responsibility of guiding the 7-12 instructional program, instructional priorities, and curriculum developmentWork collaboratively with Central Office Staff, Coordinators, other Directors, Instructional Coaches and Instructional Specialists, Principals, Assistant Principals, Teachers, Teaching Assistants, and all staff to improve instructional practice and increase student outcomesCollaborate with Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction and District Grant Writer on the Title I, Title II, Title III, and Title IV grants and help prepare the grant application and budgets. Monitor expenditures and complianceAssist with the budget preparation for newly approved instructional programs as related to instructional supplies, equipment, and materials in alignment with the Long-Range PlanAssist building administrators with the planning and implementation of extended day and summer programmingOversee the development, administration, and data analysis of district-wide assessmentsFoster and maintain a culture of continuous improvement at all levels of the organization (7-12) by establishing protocols for data analysis and progress monitoringSalary placement as per the Administrators & Supervisors Association agreement with benefits.
