The White Plains City School District has a Coordinator of Social Studies 7-12 position for the 2023-24 school year. This probationary tenure track 11 month position requires NYS certification as a School District Administrator AND Social Studies 7-12 and a strong commitment to quality education for all students. Other qualifications include: Five (5) years of successful teaching in social studiesStrong knowledge of current research in pedagogy and social studies contentProficiency with technology Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction and in collaboration with the principals, major responsibilities of the Coordinator of Social Studies include:Coordinate the development, revision, and refinement of curriculum 7-12Play a leading role in the hiring process for new teachers of social studies in grades 7-12Coordinate all matters pertaining to textbooks, testing, grading, equipment, materials and proceduresEvaluate student achievement and recommend changes designed to improve instructional effectivenessParticipate in the preparation and administration of budgetsPerform other duties as assignedSalary placement as per the Administrators & Supervisors Association Agreement
