NYS certification in Childhood Education 1-6 is required for a probationary tenure track position as a 1-6 STEM Enrichment Teacher at Eastview Middle School. A 1-6 STEM Enrichment Teacher provides whole class STEM enrichment to students in grade 6. This position is supervised by the Coordinator of STEM Pre-K-6 and the Director of Teaching, Learning, and Assessment PreK-6, with input from the middle school principal. Aside from providing STEM enrichment to 6th grade students, the STEM Enrichment Teacher serves as support and consultant to classroom teachers to integrate STEM instruction into the regular classroom environment. The selected candidate must have participated in required Project Lead the Way Gateway training and should have the following qualifications: display a rich, substantive knowledge both of pedagogy and content have a demonstrated record of seeking opportunities to collaborate actively with colleagues on teaching and learning challenges demonstrated knowledge of the NYS Computer Science and Digital Fluency Standards demonstrated ability to develop effective curriculum in the area of STEM Duties and Responsibilities include: develop STEM enrichment curriculum projects provide whole group lessons in STEM Enrichment for students in grade 6 attend ongoing professional development activities to deepen expertise in best practices related to STEM education work collaboratively with Principals, Assistant Principals, Coordinators, teachers, teaching assistants and all building staff. This position is not administrative, and does not include duties related to student discipline, teacher supervision, or building management (including creating the building master or support schedule) It also does not include providing substitute teacher coverage.
