The White Plains City School District is seeking a dynamic, creative, and student-centered Art Teacher for an anticipated vacancy at White Plains High School for the 2026-2027 school year. White Plains High School is a diverse and vibrant learning community serving over 2,200 students. Preferred Qualifications: New York State Certification in Art (K-12) Experience teaching high school visual arts courses Demonstrated expertise in ceramics and/or fashion design Experience teaching wheel throwing and ceramic studio practices Knowledge of kiln operation, clay preparation, glazing techniques, and studio safety procedures Ability to develop engaging, project-based learning experiences that support students of diverse backgrounds and abilities Strong classroom management and communication skills Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching practices Responsibilities: Teach a variety of visual arts courses and contribute to the continued growth of the district's arts program Plan and deliver standards-based instruction that promotes artistic skill development and creative expression Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging studio environment Support student participation in exhibitions, showcases, and school-wide arts initiatives Collaborate with colleagues, families, and community partners to enhance student learning opportunities Why White Plains High School?
