The White Plains City School District is seeking a passionate, skilled, and culturally responsive high school Social Studies teacher for a probationary appointment. We are especially interested in candidates who bring a deep commitment to equity, community engagement, and excellence in teaching students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. NYS Social Studies 7-12 certification is required. Dual certification in ENL and/or bilingual extension is preferred. The ideal candidate should possess the following: Demonstrated experience teaching high school students, especially in diverse classrooms Strong understanding of best practices for ENL students and culturally responsive pedagogy Commitment to student centered instruction Experience fostering civic engagement, critical thinking, and global awareness in students Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, and the wider school community Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills Desire to contribute to a supportive, inclusive, and dynamic school culture .
