NYS certification in Childhood Education 1-6 is required for an anticipated probationary tenure track Elementary Math Specialist Teacher position. A K-6 Math Specialist provides push-in, targeted small-group instruction to students who are performing below mastery on identified math concepts and provides extensions of learning to meet students’ needs. Substantive knowledge of both academic subject matter (Elementary Mathematics K-6, the NYS Next Generation Mathematics Learning Standards) and pedagogy is required. Spanish speaking is preferred. Selected candidate should have knowledge of Multi-tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) and Response to Intervention and will also participate in on-going professional development activities to deepen expertise in best practices. Salary placement as per the White Plains Teachers Association salary schedule with full benefits.
