Monday-Friday, 3PM-11:30pmGENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Performs routine building cleaning tasks; does related work as required.MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Either:A) Possession of a high school or equivalency diploma; orB) One (1) year of experience in building maintenance or cleaning work.DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: Under supervision, incumbents of this class perform a wide variety of routine manual work required for the clean, safe and optimal operation of the buildings, facilities and grounds of the various schools; does related work as required.EXAMPLES OF WORK: (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)Sweeps, mops and waxes floors using appropriate equipment; Washes windows; Dusts and cleans woodwork, furniture and other articles;Participates in the operation and maintenance of low pressure boilers; Loads and unloads trucks and stock items in appropriate storage;Replaces light bulbs and repairs switches; Maintains building security by locking and unlocking doors and gates; Shovels snow and sands sidewalks;Paints cement floors and performs other routine painting tasks; Collects and stores trash and garbage for pickup by the City;Delivers packages and messages; Moves and sets up furniture, supplies and equipment; Notifies supervisor of needed supplies and equipment for re-ordering;Cleans and disinfects bathrooms, showers, etc.; Performs related tasks, as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND ATTRIBUTES:Skill in performing building cleaning tasks and unskilled maintenance; familiarity with the use of cleaning supplies and equipment and with common tools used for repair and maintenance; ability to understand and follow oral instructions; ability to get along well with others, particularly teachers and students; dependability; ability to perform in a reasonable manner the essential functions of the position.
