MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Possession of a high school or equivalency diploma and either:(A) Four (4) years of experience with primary function in bookkeeping, account keeping or financial record keeping involving maintenance and operation of accounts, two of which must have been in an automated accounting or financial system; or(B) Satisfactory completion of 30 credits at a recognized college or university *with course work in business administration or accounting may be substituted for each year of the experience required in (A) above, but candidates must have one year experience in an automated accounting system.*NOTE: Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. You must pay the required evaluation fee.Minimum required knowledge, skills, abilities and attributes:Good knowledge of principles and practices used in single and double entry bookkeeping; good knowledge of accounting theory and methods; thorough knowledge of modern methods used in keeping and checking financial records and reports; good knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment; good knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting systems in an automated environment; good knowledge of business language; ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions; ability to make arithmetic computations rapidly and accurately; ability to write legibly; ability to get along well with others; clerical aptitude; mental alertness; good judgment; a high degree of accuracy; neatness; integrity; tact and courtesy; ability to perform in a reasonable manner the essential functions of the position.General Statements of Duties:Performs senior level financial record keeping tasks; does related work as required.Examples of work: (Illustrative only)Maintains and operates a complete and systematic set of general accounts including subsidiary ledgers in accordance with prescribed system of accounts.Makes disbursements and classifies a wide variety of expenditures and distributes items according to a prescribed code.Receives, classifies or supervises the taking and recording of various receipts.Posts entries to journals, ledgers and an electronic accounting system from a wide variety of original source documents.Prepares or generates monthly and other reports from information taken from the journal, ledger or the accounting system database.Performs bank reconciliations and inputs outstanding checks for reconciliation.Provides information to the Accounting department related to reconciliations, interest earned, etc.Participates in the preparation of the annual budget, grant applications and other funding sources.
