Who We Are:Wildwood Programs is a proud provider of educational, residential, employment, and other community-based supports to people with disabilities.Who We Are Looking For: An experienced teacher who has personally honed their teaching skills and who embraces our mission of “strengthening the well-being of people with disabilities and their families through innovative supports.” The Successful candidate will be an enthusiastic mentor who can coach and motivate others; will be an excellent listener and enjoy sharing best practices in running a successful classroom, implementing curriculum, using educational technology and providing instruction that achieves students’ IEP goals. RequirementsEducation/Experience:Master's degree or equivalent; and five years teaching experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certificates and Licenses:NYS certification as Teacher of Students with Disabilities or related discipline required. Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Coaches and models for classroom teachers on all aspects of running a successful classroom, including Classroom schedule, lesson plans, student supervision needs and buddy listsEnvironmental set up Classroom management systems Teacher role as leader of the classroom Teacher role as supervisor of Teaching Assistants Coaches and models for classroom teachers on how to implement the curriculum to align instruction with student IEP goals Formative and summative assessments; standardized tests; NYSAA b. Data collection, progress monitoring and report cards Monitoring student achievement Effective instructional strategies and resources Implementation of curriculum and use of educational technology Reviews students’ IEPs and report cards for completeness and continuityProvides feedback to Program Coordinator for Instruction regarding: Student progress; Staff training needs; Curriculum alignment ; Effectiveness of classroom management Provides professional mentoring to new teachers, according to NYSED certification requirementsAdditional Requirements:A valid New York State Driver’s License and ability to drive and driving record acceptable for agency insurance coverage are required.Required to complete, pass, and use CALM training, provided by the school, which includes deescalation strategies and approved protective holds and movements for students.
