Whitehall Central School has an opening for a Special Education Teacher (Elementary, primary level) for the 2022-2023 school year. The position is a 1.0 FTE tenure track position with a start date of September 1st, 2022. Qualifications include:Must hold a valid NYS Special Education Certification (SWD Grades 1 - 6) or proof of completing an accredited NYS program and eligible for Grades 1-6 certification.Content area/literacy certification preferredStrong commitment to children.Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.Experience working with all levels of students.Responsible for all aspects of teaching including but not limited to the development and implementation of Next Generation Learning Standards/Curriculum, instruction, NYS alternative assessment, student supervision, home/school communication, etc.Have an understanding and experience with RTI, IEP, and 504 procedures.Have knowledge in writing and maintaining IEP’s.Monitor and evaluate the progress of students.Collaborate with team members, faculty, and administration.Work effectively with parents and have knowledge of resources.Advocate for students based on relevant data.
