We are looking for an educator who: has high levels of knowledge and understanding of the content they teach can guide learning to surface and deep outcomes can successfully monitor learning and provide feedback that assists students in progress can attend to more attitudinal attributes of learning (i.e., self-efficacy, independence, and responsibility) can provide defensible evidence of the positive impacts of teaching on student learning Realistically, we need someone with the proper certifications. However, you must understand the content being taught or be willing to utilize our vast professional development opportunities to refine your craft. You will be expected to provide meaningful feedback that advances student learning. The successful candidate will naturally attend to the social-emotional aspects of learning and reflect on why instructional practices have or have not been effective. While this is all about year one and beyond, day one matters too—compensation, district culture, staff, and location. Practically speaking, you should have the proper certification and experience teaching Family and Consumer Science at the secondary level (Grades 9–12).
