The West Genesee School District is recruiting for a twelve-month Intermediate School Principal. Appropriate NYS certification required. Experience as a building principal with upper elementary/middle school experience preferred. Salary dependent on experience. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school, including leading the building Guiding Coalition and PLC processes. 2. Leads in the design and implementation of programs to meet specific needs of the school. 3. Maintains and promotes open lines of communication with all levels of administration, staff, parents, and community. 4. Prepares and administers the school building budget and supervises building finances. 5. Prepares and/or supervises the preparation of reports, records, lists, and all other paperwork required or appropriate to the school's administration. 6. Supervises the administration of both local and state examinations and compiles and submits appropriate reports to the proper district and state offices. 7. Keeps the Superintendent informed of events and activities of an unusual nature as well as routine matters related to the supervisor's accountability. 8. Interprets and enforces district policies and administrative regulations. 9. Supervises the school's education program. 10. Leads in the development, determination of appropriateness, and the monitoring and evaluation of the instructional program/curriculum. 11. Establishes and maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary, according due process to the rights of students. 12. Attends special events held to recognize student achievement, and attends school sponsored activities. 13. Maintains and controls the various local funds generated by student activities. 14. Supervises the maintenance of accurate records on the progress and attendance of students. 15. Assumes responsibility for monitoring of students attendance, health and safety and takes action as appropriate. 16. Assumes responsibility for their own professional growth and development. 17. Assists in the recruiting, screening, hiring, training, assigning, and evaluating of the school's professional staff. 18. Supervises the development of the master schedule and any special assignments. 19. Orients newly assigned staff members and assists in their development, as appropriate. 20. Supervises and evaluates staff members regarding their individual and group performance in conjunction with other administrative staff. 21. Conducts meetings of the school staff as necessary for the proper functioning of the school. 22. Assists in the in-service orientation and training of teachers. 23. Is a member of the administrative team that is responsible for the safety and administration of the school building plant. 24. Schedules the use of the school facilities for both academic and non-academic purposes. 25. Plans and supervises fire drills, bus drills, and an emergency preparedness program. 26. Provides for adequate inventories of property. 27. Provides for supervision of the school's extracurricular program. 28. Attends and participates in meetings as are required or appropriate. 29. Cooperates with college and university officials regarding pre-service teacher training and preparation. 30. Organizes and administers the public relations program for their school. 31. Cooperates with community support, legal, and law enforcement agencies to advance the educational and personal well-being of all students. 32. Delegates authority to appropriate personnel to assume responsibility for the school in the absence of the principal.
