PERSONNEL BULLETIN FOR THE 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR: Provisional Assistant Head Custodian at Westbury Middle School Job Description from the CS-4 from the Nassau County Civil Service Commission includes, but is not limited to: Assign tasks to crew of cleaners and custodians and supervise their work. Supervises operation of school buildings during school events. Checks heating and ventilating equipment for proper working order. Make minor repairs to lockers, doors, windows, etc. Requisitions, receives, and distributes building cleaning supplies. Assists in the performance of routine cleaning and maintenance tasks. Performs all other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor. Full Performance Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities: Considerable knowledge of building and cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment. Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of heating systems. Ability to make semi-skilled plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical repairs. Ability to assign and supervise the activities of subordinates. Ability to understand and follow oral and written direction. Requirements: Two years of satisfactory experience in building cleaning and maintenance activities; or One year of satisfactory experience as a carpenter, plumber, electrician, painter, mechanic, steam firer or other related maintenance work. Must be willing to take the next Nassau County Civil Service Assistant Head Custodian Examination, must pass the test, and be reachable when the new Nassau County Civil Service Assistant Head Custodian List becomes available. Location: Westbury Middle School. Contractual Days/Hours: Monday-Friday: 3:00 p.m.-12:00 midnight Salary and Benefits: As per the UPSEU Westbury Custodial/Grounds/Maintenance Unit Contract.
