Probationary Appointment: Certified Teacher Location: Hillbrook Detention Center 4949 Velasko Road Syracuse, NY 13215 Salary: $62,100 Hours of work: 35 hours per week, 12 months per year Full Time NYS Certified Teaching Position at Hillbrook Detention Center Responsibilities: 1. Assist students with Middle and High School virtual courses. 2. Classroom Management 3. Motivate students to participate in classroom activities 4. Accommodate different learning abilities and styles 5. Assess individual abilities and provide accommodations 6. Documentation of Incidents and Behaviors Minimum Qualifications: Possession of a permanent or professional NYS Teaching Certificate in one of the following areas: Mathematics Science Reading English Social Studies Special Education Education 7-12 Education 1-6 Adult Education and Training/HSE. *NOTE: Loss of certification will result in termination of permanent appointment. A permanent teaching certification must be obtained within the time limitations set by the New York State Education Department or appointment will be terminated. Initial certification requirement may be waived for a set period of time as approved by the NYS Office of Children and Family Services. Desired abilities: 1. Strong classroom management skills 2.
