This position offers the opportunity to work directly with Title I students to enhance academic achievement and provide additional instructional support. QUALIFICATIONS NYS Certification: Teaching Assistant Certification or Teacher Certification required (Secondary English preferred) Experience working with children, preferably in a secondary school Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team Strong communication, patience, and problem-solving skills Strong academic skills in English Desire and knowledge to balance students’ social/emotional and academic/intellectual needs Desire and ability to work collaboratively with an academic teamFUNCTIONS Assist classroom teachers in English with daily instruction, classroom management, and student engagement. Provide small-group and one-on-one academic support to students, reinforcing concepts taught in class. Monitor and document student progress as directed by the teacher Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, transportation and other activities Maintain a positive, respectful, and supportive learning environment Collaborate with teachers and support staff to meet student needs Perform other duties as assigned Demonstrate commitment to professional growth Model for students an interest in life-long learning in subject area and general knowledge Support school-wide activities through chaperoning, involvement with student activities and/or coaching To communicate regularly with students’ support staff and parents.If iIf interested, please respond online at www.olasjobs.org/longisland no later than November 7, 2025.
