The ideal candidate will be passionate about preparing students with essential life skills, including food nutrition, clothing and textiles, home management, family relations, and consumer education. This role requires strong instructional skills, a commitment to student success, and the ability to foster a positive and engaging learning environment. QUALIFICATIONS:NYS Certification – Family & Consumer ScienceSuccessful experience teaching Family & Consumer Science and knowledge of the prescribed curriculum Ability to work under clinical supervisionProven ability to work effectively with students, staff and parents--strong relationship skillsDemonstrated understanding of and experience with the use of technology into instruction FUNCTIONS:Teach secondary schedule using NYS Standards, concepts and skills in food nutrition, clothing and textiles, home management, family relations and consumer educationAssess students using various assessment measuresProvide tutorial and/or extra-help assistance for students as neededPerform assigned student supervision and record-keeping responsibilitiesDemonstrate commitment to professional growth through ongoing development and trainingModel for students an interest in life-long learning in subject area and general knowledgeSupport school-wide activities through chaperoning, involvement with student activities and/or coaching If interested please respond online to: www.olasjobs.org/longisland no later than April 4, 2025.
