WEST BABYLON SCHOOLSANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCY2024-2025 1.0 FTE Behavior Specialist Grant Funded Position DESCRIPTION:A “Behavior Specialist” collaborates with one or more schools in the West Babylon School District to assess and develop behavioral interventions for students with disabilities. The Behavior Specialist reports to the Director of Special Education, but coordinates his/her work with the School Psychologists and building Crisis Team(s). QUALIFICATIONS:Board Certified Behavior Analyst CertificationAppropriate New York State Certification/License: Master’s Degree in Special Education, School Psychology or Counseling, or equivalent experience and trainingSuccessful experience in behavioral modification, crisis intervention, functional behavior assessment, behavior intervention plans and staff consultation within a school environmentExperience working with students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders and/or social/emotional/ behavioral disabilities.Formal training in and practical knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis, positive behavior/intervention strategies, including contributing to FBAs, BIPs, and BSPsAbility to write valid IEPs and to follow IDEA and 504 proceduresCPI or SKIP TrainingProven ability to work effectively and engage with students, staff and parents, a strong work ethic and interpersonal skills, and organizational skillsProficient in educational and administrative technologyFlexibility with schedule to provide parent training and supportAccess to a vehicle and a valid, clean NYS driver's license FUNCTIONS:Provide expertise to all faculty in behavior management, including assessment and planning of behavior management strategies as well as consultation and training regarding certain types childhood behavioral issues and intervention strategiesProvide expertise to parents/caregivers in behavior management, including assessment and planning of behavior management strategies as well as consultation and training regarding certain types childhood behavioral issues and intervention strategiesIn collaboration with faculty and families, develop/write behavior plans and assist in classroom implementation as indicatedParticipate as assigned in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of a child’s services.Participate in the School’s Positive Behavioral Supports and Interventions (PBIS) initiative as indicated or directed Reports to the Director of Student ServicesAdditional responsibilities as assigned by the SuperintendentProvide training to staff in working with students who have behavioral challenges Salary Range: (based upon experience and grant fund availability); Benefits Competitive Qualified candidates should submit a letter of interest and an updated resume online at: www.olasjobs.org/longisland by October 18, 2024 to: Mr. Shawn HanleyAssistant Superintendent for Human ResourcesWest Babylon Schools10 Farmingdale RoadWest Babylon, NY 11704
