Strong understanding of the role of the CSE Chairperson and experience leading meetings. FUNCTIONS:The Director of Student Services provides leadership and direction for the Pre-K-12 special education programs, as well as psychological, attendance and social work services, while working cooperatively with principals and district administration. The Director reports to the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for the functions listed below and other essential responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent and/or the Assistant Superintendent: Coordinates the district’s special services, including special education, speech, occupational and physical therapy, psychological, learning disabilities, and attendance, and works cooperatively with the district administration in the recruitment and selection of personnel for these pre-k - 12 special services Oversees the CPSE Chairperson and associated dutiesServes as the chairperson of the K-12 Committee on Special EducationDistrict-wide evaluation, planning and implementation of all Special Education/Special Service programs and activities throughout the school year and summer elementary studentsServes as the district’s compliance coordinator for Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (K through 12)Coordinates transition supports for students from elementary buildings to JHS and JHS to SHSCoordinates the activities of the K-12 school psychologists and social workersCoordinates the work of the district’s medical doctors in relationship to special education mandates (K through 12)Engages in synergetic supervision with respect to lesson observations and summative evaluations for personnel providing special education servicesMeets regularly with all K-12 special educators, CSE/CPSE chairpersons, and pupil personnel staff Supervise, coordinate, evaluate and provide professional development for K-12 special education curriculum and instruction Serves as liaison to SEPTA (Special Education Parent Teacher Association)Serves as Title IX officer regarding all allegations made against elementary studentsCoordinates Manifestation Determination Hearings as part of the Superintendent’s Hearings process for elementary studentsPrepare reports for NYSED and other agencies, Section 611/ 619 grants and districtwide related service providersAccepts other assignments that may be identified by the Superintendent of Schools Competitive Salary & Benefits Qualified candidates should submit a letter of interest and an updated resume online at: www.olasjobs.org/longisland by September 27, 2024.
