WEST BABYLON SCHOOLS 2024-2025 ANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCY District Treasurer QualificationsState Education Department Certification - SDA (School District Administrator), SBA (School Business Administrator), or SDBL (School District Business Leader) AND/OR CPA (Certified Public Accountant) AND/OR current public school district business office experience AND/OR public school district auditing experience preferred Terms of Employment: 12 Month full-time employee Start Date: August 19, 2024 The District Treasurer for the West Babylon UFSD reports to the Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations. In this capacity, the District Treasurer will maintain a system for the preservation of all financial transactions in the District. Essential job functions for District TreasurerSignatory on all checks and disbursements and initiates electronic payments as authorizedReview of monthly treasurer reports to the Board of EducationResponsible for all accounting functions including adjusting entries to maintain accurate books and recordsReviews annual cash flows and determines short-term and long-term borrowing needs, assists in preparation of Official Statements in connection with such borrowingsMaintain the general ledger, cash receipts, and cash disbursements for all fundsAnnual independent external, internal, and claims audit liaisonDirects and supervises implementation of audit recommendations made to DistrictPrepare invoices and account for foster studentsPreparation and filing of all financial records with state and federal agenciesAssist in supervising business office personnel including accounts payable, purchasing, payrolland benefits and oversees the responsibilities of the Deputy TreasurerMaintain due to/from schedule of interfund activity/settle interfund balancesAnalyze records needed to prepare and file Medicaid Cost ReportWork with Student Services to calculate/STAC expense for High Cost Students and SummerSchoolAnalyze equipment purchases and disposals and provide CBIZ with schedules needed tomaintain Fixed AssetsUpdate DebtBook schedules to account for leases in accordance with GASB 87 and SBITA inaccordance with GASB 96All other duties as directed by the Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations REQUIREMENTS: Must have government and/or school accounting experience, the ability to multitask and work independently. Bachelor’s degree required, graduate degree and/or CPA preferred. Candidates should be experienced, organized, detail oriented and possess a strong knowledge of modern financial accounting, record keeping, as well as laws, policies, procedures, and regulations related to school district finances. Must take initiative in solving problems and completing projects in compliance with deadlines, changing laws, guidelines and auditor’s requirements. Familiarity with nVision preferred.
