The Watkins Glen Central School District is in search of a School Psychologist. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive psychological services that promote the academic, social, and emotional success of all students by collaborating with teachers, administrators, and families to create supportive learning environments.Performance Responsibilities:• Provide psychological assessments and evaluations to determine students' educational needs.• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop and implement effective educational programs for students with diverse needs.• Support the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.• Provide crisis intervention and counseling services to students as needed.• Facilitate small group or individual counseling sessions to address behavioral, social, and emotional issues.• Assist in developing school-wide programs to promote positive behavior, mental health awareness, and academic success.• Conduct professional development sessions for faculty on topics related to mental health, behavioral strategies, and interventions.• Participate in multidisciplinary teams, including Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings, providing expert input on student psychological needs.• Maintain accurate and confidential records of all assessments, services, and communications.• Stay updated with current best practices, research, and legislation in school psychology and education law.Recommended Requirements & Qualifications:• A valid New York State certification as a School Psychologist.• A master’s degree in School Psychology, or a closely related field.• Knowledge of New York State special education laws, regulations, and procedures.• Experience working with students in a school setting.• Strong understanding of behavioral and academic assessment tools.• Effective communication skills for working with students, staff, parents, and external service providers.• Ability to develop and implement intervention strategies and plans.Duties & Responsibilities:Assessment:o Administer psychological and educational tests, interpret the results, and prepare reports summarizing findings.o Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and recommend Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs).Consultation:o Collaborate with educators, families, and community agencies to create supportive learning environments.o Provide guidance to teachers on classroom management, differentiated instruction, and behavioral interventions.Intervention:o Offer individual or group counseling services for students experiencing emotional, social, or behavioral difficulties.o Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution support in urgent situations.Prevention:o Develop and lead initiatives to promote mental health, positive behavior, and social-emotional learning across the school community.Compliance:o Ensure that all psychological services are provided in accordance with district policies, state laws, and federal regulations.o Attend, participate, and chair CSE and 504 plan meetings as necessary to provide recommendations and support for students' educational success.
