Posting for Director of Curriculum and InstructionThe Washingtonville Central School District is seeking an innovative and experienced administrator for theposition of Director of Curriculum and Instruction.Job Description: Under the general direction of the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction,the Director of Curriculum and Instruction will assist with the implementation, accountability, and monitoring ofthe K-12 Curriculum Department duties to include but not limited to: standards implementation and training,instructional coaching, state testing and assessments, academic intervention, program improvement, Englishlanguage learners program compliance, 21st Century learners and STEM initiatives as well as the use of theelectronic data management system.Qualifications: New York State School District Administrator or School District Leader certification; Minimum of 3 years as an administrator preferably in an elementary school; Minimum of 5 years as an elementary teacher; Depth of knowledge and command of the NYS Learning Standards; Experience leading professional development workshops and running curriculum meetings; Experience using data to drive instruction; Strong communication, managerial, and leadership skills; Demonstrated effective principles of teaching and learning; Experience observing and evaluating the performance of selected non-tenured and tenured teachingstaff in the district; Ability to take directions and work as a productive member of a highly functioning administrative team; Strong work ethic and commitment to the success of others and the organization; Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director of Curriculum and Instruction, under the directsupervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, performs the following duties:I. Curriculum Coordination: Supervises the selection and adoption of new textbooks, instructional materials and methodsunder the direction of the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction Supports the implementation and articulation of all new programs and initiatives including thoserelated to signature programs such as PLTW, Assist in the coordination and supervision of the Academic Instructional Support program for theDistrict, including the implementation of a K-12 RTI system. Assists Building Level Administration and Department Chairs with the monitoring and analysis ofdata related to student achievement in order to adjust instructional approaches and/orcurriculum. Help coordinate the K-12 vertical alignment of instructional materials and programs through theon-going monitoring and development of curriculum maps. Assists principals and teachers with instructional practices related to standards K-12implementation. Collaborate with principals in working with Department Chairs and Grade Level teams related tocontent specific curriculum and instruction.II. State and Federally Funded Projects: Help in the preparation of the application pursuant to participation by the District in the variousState and Federal programs such as grants related to Title I, UPK, CEEP, etc Prepare such reports as may be required by the Superintendent’s or Assistant Superintendent’soffice as to progress and results of the various programsIII. Staff Development and Assignment: Participate on interview committees Participate in the orientation of new staff members Assists in the coordination of conferences and in-service program Assist in the planning, delivery, and assessment of staff development for Teachers andAdministrators Assist Building Administration with determining class size and teacher assignments Keeps current on educational trends and publications and disseminates appropriate informationto departments.IV. Classroom Observations:Assists Principals to improve teacher performance. Observes and Evaluates teaching staff performance following the District’s APPR planV. Pupil Services: Maintain liaison with community, county and State agencies as directed by the AssistantSuperintendent for Curriculum & Instruction. Assist building administrators in the implementation and administration of State testing includingcomputer-based testing. Collaborates with administration and teachers on District wide data team to promote Districtinitiatives and goals. Help coordinate the development and implementation of the District and building levelcomprehensive plans. Serves as a staff liaison for, or as a member of, appropriate committeesVI. Publications: Support the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction on the preparation ofnewsletters, press releases, budget brochures, and other district publications. Manage the repository for all curriculum and assessment work, resources and information.VII.
