Warwick Valley Central School District TITLE: Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Personnel Services REPORTS TO: Superintendent of Schools REQUIRED CERTIFICATION: New York State School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL) certification required. JOB SUMMARY The Warwick Valley Central School District (WVCSD) has an anticipated probationary Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Personal Services available for the 2026-2027 school year. The WVCSD serves approximately 3800 students in grades K-12, employing approximately 325 teachers, 350 support staff and 17 administrators. The District’s mission is to provide all students with the necessary skills to thrive in the 21st Century as learners, workers and citizens. The WVCSD is comprised of four schools, including two elementary schools (grades K-4), a middle school (grades 5-8) and a high school (grades 9-12). The WVCSD’s elementary schools are both recipients of the National Blue Ribbon Schools Award and the high school was designated as a Reward School by the New York State Education Department. Warwick is an historic town location 55 miles north of New York City in Orange County, New York. The Assistant Superintendent will lead a dedicated team committed to supporting the academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and physical well-being of students while ensuring equitable access to high-quality educational opportunities and services. Working collaboratively with families, staff, administrators, community agencies, and outside providers, the successful candidate will help foster inclusive learning environments and strengthen systems of support that allow all students to thrive. The successful candidate must possess extensive knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, Article 89 of New York State Education Law, and all applicable New York State Education Department regulations and guidance governing special education and student services. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Ensure District compliance with all applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and guidance related to special education and student services, including IDEA, Section 504, Article 89, and New York State Education Department regulations. Supervise and evaluate PPS administrators, coordinators, CSE and CPSE Chairpersons, guidance personnel, psychologists, counselors, and related service providers to promote accountability, professional growth, and continuous improvement. Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of district-wide special education instructional practices, intervention systems, and student support initiatives designed to improve student outcomes. Collaborate with district and building administrators to strengthen inclusive practices, multi-tiered systems of support, behavioral interventions, and equitable access to educational opportunities for all students. Oversee the identification, evaluation, placement, re-evaluation, and programming of students receiving special education services, including in-district and out-of-district placements. Develop, administer, and monitor the PPS budget, including staffing, contracted services, transportation, and out-of-district placement expenditures. Coordinate and oversee district committees, processes, and programs related to Special Education and student support services, including SEL initiatives, academic intervention programs, alternative education, and related services. Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with families, community agencies, outside service providers, and governmental organizations to support student success and well-being. Provide professional development and guidance to administrative, instructional, and support staff regarding special education law, compliance requirements, instructional best practices, and student support systems. Participate actively in district leadership initiatives, strategic planning efforts, crisis response activities, Board of Education presentations, and other district-wide operational priorities as directed by the Superintendent of Schools. Remain current on emerging trends, legal developments, research, and best practices in Special Education and student support services, and recommend programmatic improvements to enhance student outcomes. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Twelve-month work year. Terms and conditions of employment shall be established by contract. COMPENSATION Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
