The Warwick Valley Central School District (WVCSD) is seeking interested candidates to fill anticipated probationary CSE/CPSE Chairperson positions to serve beginning as soon as possible. The WVCSD serves approximately 3700 students in grades K-12, employing approximately 325 teachers, 300 support staff and 16 administrators. The District’s mission is to provide all students with the necessary skills to thrive in the 21st Century as learners, workers and citizens. The WVCSD is comprised of four schools, including two K-4 elementary schools, a middle school (grades 5-8) and high school (grades 9-12). The WVCSD’s elementary schools are both recipients of the National Blue Ribbon Schools Award, the Middle School & Sanfordville Elementary have been named 2019 US Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools and the High School was designated as a Reward School by the New York State Education Department. Warwick is an historic town located 55 miles north of New York City in Orange County, New York. Position Summary: The Warwick Valley Central School District is seeking dedicated CSE/CPSE Chairpersons to join our team at various levels. These roles involve chairing CSE/CPSE annual review and re-evaluation meetings for students receiving special education services, ensuring compliance with NYSED regulations and working collaboratively with school staff and families to support student success. CSE/CPSE Chairperson Expectations:Meeting Facilitation: Chair CSE/CPSE/504 meetings for students, ensuring compliance with state and federal special education regulations.IEP Development: Collaborate with teachers, service providers and families to develop and update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that meet student needs.Compliance Oversight: Maintain strict adherence to NYSED guidelines and district policies, ensuring accurate documentation and timely communication of student progress.Case Management: Support special education staff by providing guidance on program compliance, effective service delivery and case management.Collaboration: Work with school administrators, special education staff and families to ensure services are provided in the least restrictive environment and align with students’ educational goals.Support Team: Providing assessment and intervention solutions as part of the contribution of the school-based support team.Does related work as required.Preferred Qualifications:At least three to five years of experience in Special Education and/or related services in a school or district setting.Prior experience leading and participating in CSE/CPSE meetings.Thorough knowledge of CSE/CPSE guidelines and regulations as related to Special Education services.Strong understanding of cognitive, behavioral and educational testing and evaluations.Ability to work and problem-solve effectively with a variety of people.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral, written and digital).Multilingual applicants encouraged to apply.The successful candidate must have valid NYS certification (i.e. Special Education, Students with Disabilities, Speech and Language Disabilities or School Psychologist).
